Embracing a New Melody: My Journey into Singing
For as long as I can remember, storytelling has been at the core of everything I do. Acting, dance, photography, and filmmaking have each given me unique ways to share pieces of my heart. But singing? That’s a vulnerability I never thought I’d explore. For years, if someone asked if I sang, I’d laugh and say, “No, but I can rap!” Yet, something shifted recently.
After completing a script for a project, I started hearing melodies in my mind—melodies that seemed to say, “Don’t be afraid to let me out.” I found myself writing lyrics and crafting stories in music, and before I knew it, songs were flowing out of me in ways I never expected. What began as one song turned into a collection of melodies that captured moments I needed to express, a part of my journey that had waited quietly for its turn.
With a year of vocal coaching, I’ve been learning to embrace this side of myself. It’s thrilling, nerve-wracking, and exciting all at once. I’m blending the rhythms and stories that have shaped me with the reggae vibes I’ve always loved. My goal isn’t just to sing but to connect with others on a level I’ve yet to explore.
As I step into this journey as a singer-songwriter, I’m grateful for every experience that’s led me here. Here’s to discovering new ways to share my heart and to finding courage in every note.
