A Christmas Winter Song Writer Melissa Bustamante Nominated at the 51st NAACP Image Awards

Melissa Bustamante, the writer of our film, “A Christmas Winter Song,” starring Stan Shaw, Grammy winner, Ashanti and Sashani Nichole, has just been nominated for a 51st NAACP Image Awards for, “Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture (Television).”  

The NAACP Image Awards held a star-studded nominee event today Thursday, January 9th, 2020, where nominees were announced via Facebook live leading up to the televised event, which will air on Saturday, February 22, at 8/7c on BET.

Melissa’s nomination comes on the heals of the success of the film’s Christmas season release, which had an opening day debut of 1.08 million viewers on the Lifetime Movie Network. The movie which has been hailed by many as a new Christmas classic was also released internationally in the UK.

“A Christmas Winter Song,” directed by Camille Brown, is a heartwarming movie that deals with loss and redemption, healing, and forgiveness. According to the film’s synopsis, Clio (Ashanti) befriends Fred, (Stan Shaw) a former jazz singer, down on his luck. They form a special bond over music, and Clio, having just lost her own father, helps Fred reconnect with his own daughter, (Sashani Nichole) just in time for Christmas.

This is Melissa’s first script and first NAACP Image Award Nomination. A select committee will determine the winner for Melissa’s category to win the illustrious NAACP Image Award.
